What this author has overlooked is that ALL great (and not so great) advances, discoveries, inventions and concepts have been, are and will be instigated by those who are NOT conformist in thought, behavior and belief. It is absolutely illogical to purport that conformity is humankind's optimal condition. Conversely, outright rebellion is not the answer. In fact, there is no answer. This view on conformity is gravely shallow and ignorant--something Americans (and the rest of the world) need LESS of, not more.
